Thomas Boat, MD, executive associate dean at the College of Medicine, has been named chief executive officer of UC Physicians (UCP), effective July 1 and pending approval by the UC Physicians Board of Directors.
Boat returned to an active role within the College of Medicine in April after stepping down a year ago as chair of the pediatrics department and director of the Cincinnati Children’s Research Foundation, positions he held for more than 14 years.
“Tom’s leadership abilities are impeccable and I believe he will provide us with the management and physician executive leadership skills needed to take our outstanding faculty practice to the next level,” said David Stern, MD, vice president of health affairs at UC and College of Medicine dean, in a memo to Academic Health Center faculty and staff.
Boat, who will focus on leading UC Physicians and ensuring the success of the UCP Re-engineering Project, will maintain his executive associate dean title.
He replaces Dan Gahl, who served as administrator since 1994. |
