Seeley to Hold New Endowed Chair Title

Randy Seeley, PhD, professor of psychiatry and associate director of UCís Obesity Research Center, has been named the Donald C. Harrison Endowed Chair in Medicine.
The endowed chair position was established by Donald Harrison, MD, senior vice president and provost for health affairs from 1986 to 2002.
Seeley received his PhD from the University of Pennsylvania and completed a fellowship at the University of Washington in Seattle. He studies metabolic disorders such as obesity and diabetesóresearching peripheral hormones and how they act in the central nervous systemto regulate food intake and body weight.
Seeley has published more than 180 peer-reviewed articles and has received several awards.
In 2003, he received the Lilly Scientific Achievement Award from the North American Association for the Study of Obesity.
Most recently, he was named as co-recipient of the 2008 Ernst Oppenheimer Award from the Endocrine Society.
