Drake Conference Explores Technology, Stroke Recovery

More than 130 neurorehabilitation professionals from 18 states and two countries converged at Drake Center recently for the American Society of Neurorehabilitation’s 2009 workshop, “Accelerating Use of Technology in Stroke Rehabilitation: Opportunities and Challenges.” Conference directors and speakers Stephen Page, PhD, and Kari Dunning, PhD, were joined by internationally renowned experts, including Anna Barrett, MD (above), of the Kessler Foundation Research Center in West Orange, N.J., for two days of presentations and breakout sessions. Topics included the use of virtual reality and gaming approaches to improve ambulation, electrical stimulation for arm and leg function and memory re-training.
