College of Allied Health Sciences Dean Elizabeth King, PhD (pictured center with first-year students at UC), served as the keynote speaker for the fall 2009 Great Beginnings Ceremony, hosted by the Center for First Year Experience.
The event showcased the work of the First-Year Learning Communities, which are designed to offer groups of first-year students and faculty the opportunity to come together based on shared academic interests.
“Dean King has been an enormous advocate for first-year students,” says Greg Metz, assistant director of the Center for First Year Experience and Learning Communities. “She promotes powerful and collaborative learning experiences that truly engage and connect students. We were honored and delighted to have her speak at our event.”
